Bivouac (Bivy) Shelters

This is the shelter I take along when I am doing an especially long and/or challenging hike and need my pack to be as light as possible since it weigh. As you can see, this Outdoor Research Advanced Bivy is basically a weather-proof sleeping bag cover. It is also ideal for those times you expect the weather to be fine but don't want to take any unnecessary chances. At just 39 ounces, there is no excuse to leave shelter behind. It's also perfect for sleeping under the stars!

Unlike the Advanced Bivy above, the MicroNight Bivy bivy does not sit away from your face. Weight is lightened (total weight is about 19.4 ounces) by having no rods and an ultralight "water-resistant"/breathable fabric.
