The lists below contain the concessioners licensed to guide backpacking and hiking trips at Grand Canyon. There are many to choose from; I recommend that you visit each company's website to find the service that suits your interest best. Below the table, you'll find other services such as horse-back rides and van-supported trips throughout the southwest.
Grand Canyon Field Institute - If you would like to join a guided hiking and/or camping trip that is educational in nature, consider the Grand Canyon Field Institute. GCFI works in close association with the National Park Service to provide multi-day learning events that complement the park's own interpretive programming. GCFI is the educational arm of the Grand Canyon Association, a non-profit organization established in 1932 to support education, research, and other programs for the benefit of Grand Canyon National Park and its visitors. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
NAU Elderhostel - Elderhostel is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing extraordinary learning adventures for people 55 and over. Northern Arizona University Elderhostel offers many courses in Grand Canyon, Sedona, and throughout the Southwest worth checking out. Typical course offerings include geology, southwest history, ecology, Native American, planetary studies, archeology, fine arts programs and writing workshops. Whether you want to backpack or travel in comfort in hotels and nice buses, I would highly recommend checking out their online catalog.
